President of the Rotary Club St. Vincent, Daniel Campbell, has been charged with sexual assault.
Campbell, a civil engineer and consultant, appeared in court, in camera, on Wednesday in connection with the charge that he assaulted a female, who is in her 20s, in April, iWitness News was reliably informed.
Details about the case are still emerging but iWitness News understands that Campbell was granted station bail and a date set for his next court appearance.
Campbell is the son of the late Parnell Campbell, a former attorney general and then Queen’s Counsel, whose public education television programme, “The Law and You”, educated Vincentians for decades about their rights under the law.
Campbell is the second member of a prominent Vincentian family to be charged with a sex offence in just over a week.
Last week Thursday, May 11, Donnally Daniel, son of prominent pastor, Errol Daniel, appeared before the Family Court charge that he indecently assaulted a teenager.
Daniel is slated to return to court on Sept. 18.
