A Cane Hall baker has been fined for inflicting grievous bodily harm on a 50-year-old shopkeeper of Upper Cane Hall on Oct. 5.

Mazie Cumberbatch, 25, appeared before the Calliaqua Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to a charge that he inflicted grievous bodily harm on the virtual complainant by chopping him on the left side of his head and on his left hand with a cutlass at Arnos Vale. 

He was fined EC$1,500, of which EC$500 was to be paid forthwith or six months imprisonment. 

Cumberbatch was ordered to pay the balance in two month in order to avoid a six-month prison sentence.

He was further ordered to pay the virtual complainant EC$1,000 in compensation in four months or spend eight months  in prison.

  1. Well he would have to do a lot of baking to meet his responsibilities, but at the end he’s say it’s a lesson well learnt, I do hope that others learn from it
