A Cane Hall baker has been fined for inflicting grievous bodily harm on a 50-year-old shopkeeper of Upper Cane Hall on Oct. 5.
Mazie Cumberbatch, 25, appeared before the Calliaqua Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to a charge that he inflicted grievous bodily harm on the virtual complainant by chopping him on the left side of his head and on his left hand with a cutlass at Arnos Vale.
He was fined EC$1,500, of which EC$500 was to be paid forthwith or six months imprisonment.
Cumberbatch was ordered to pay the balance in two month in order to avoid a six-month prison sentence.
He was further ordered to pay the virtual complainant EC$1,000 in compensation in four months or spend eight months in prison.
