Two new champions were crowned at the Police Cooperative Credit Union-Police Christmas Carolling Contest on Friday.
Traffic Angels defeated seven other senior choirs while Spring Village Police Youth Club Carollers defeated eight junior choirs, including the defending champs, Layou Police Youth Club Carollers, to be crowned junior and senior champions for 2023.
The event, held on the compound at the Central Police Station, got off to a late start due to inclement weather. However, when the competition began, the choirs did not disappoint the appreciative audience. It was keenly contested in both categories.

Senior Category
1st place — Traffic Angels
2nd place — RRU Carollers
3rd place — Eastern Caroller
Best Original Carol — RRU Carollers
Best Traditional Carol — Traffic Angels
Best Speech — Traffic Angels
Best Dress Choir — Traffic Angels
Junior Category
1st place — Spring Village Police Youth Club Carollers
2nd place — Layou Police Youth Club Carollers
3rd place — Stubbs/Diamond Police Youth Club Carollers

The theme for this year’s Christmas Carolling Contest was “Police Christmas Carolling Contest: It’s ah Family thing”
“The Commissioner of Police and other ranks of the RSVGPF thank the participants, sponsors, and patrons who supported the Christmas Carolling Contest. This is the twentieth year of the contest. It began in 2003 under the leadership of Retired Commissioner of Police, Mr. William Harry,” the police said in a press release.
