The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment and Diaspora Affairs says they are aware of the circumstances surrounding Shaquille King, a national of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, who is currently stranded in France.
The ministry made this remark in a press release that was issued on Monday. The release said that the ministry wished to assure the public that efforts are ongoing to facilitate King’s safe and timely return to SVG.
“The Saint Vincent and the Grenadines High Commission to the United Kingdom has been actively working to facilitate the issuance of an Emergency Travel Document. Additionally, the High Commission continues to liaise with the relevant British authorities in Paris to monitor Mr. King’s welfare and provide the necessary assistance and coordination throughout this process.
The release added that the Ministry recognised the concerns that may arise in circumstances of this nature and wishes to reassure King, his family and the wider public that his situation remains a priority.
The government’s response follows a viral social media video in which King detailed his inability to return home after his passport was stolen. King reported that he was stranded in Paris, facing severe personal hardship and an expiring visa due to a lack of funds to cover the fee required for an Emergency Travel Document.
