The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) says it has launched an investigation into a video circulated on social media that appears to show a young female (pre-teen or early-teen) being gang raped.

The video appears to shows two males raping the girl and suggests that at least a third person was present and filming the crime.

“The RSVGPF wishes to advise the general public that it is a prosecutable offence to circulate or share videos of this nature on social media,” the police said in the press statement.

The statement noted that perpetrators can be charged with multiple offences under the Cybercrime Act of 2016, including child pornography.

The law says that a person who commits a crime under the child pornography section is liable, on summary conviction, to a fine of EC$300,000 dollars or seven years imprisonment or to both.

On conviction on indictment, a person is liable to a fine of EC$750,000 or to imprisonment for 20 years or to both.

Person can also be charged with sexual harassment by electronic communication.

Under this section, on summary conviction, a person is subjected to a fine of EC$100,000 or to imprisonment for two years or to both.

On conviction on indictment, a person can be fined EC$200,000 or imprisoned for five years or to both.

“In addition, circulating such videos re-victimises and re-traumatises the victim,” the police said.

“Accordingly, the RSVGPF calls on the culprit(s) circulating this video to stop immediately or face prosecution.”

Police are asking people with information that can assist the investigation of this crime or any other crime to speak with a police officer with whom they comfortable, or to telephone 1-784- 457-1211 ext. 4837, 4856 or 4859; 1-784-457-1211 ext. 4876 or the police emergency numbers at 911 or 999.

“All information received would be treated confidentially. The investigation into this matter is ongoing,” police said.

  1. Not a dwmn thing is gonna come out of this. The man in the highest office in this land allegedly raped someone and the case was thrown out. Since that precedent was set, rape cases often times, are slighted by those in authority and people are given hush money. Don’t hold your breath for justice in this incident Vincies.

  2. Who wants to know about the fine? Talk about the growing spread of Pediophiles in St. Vincent. Talk about putting the person for 50 years behind bars, then profiling them within the communities everywhere. This is too damn sickening. Vincentian men are sexual, yes. But take it up with grown women who will give u consent. Smh.
