A woman was chopped to death in Campden Park on Wednesday, Valentine’s Day, leaving her 3-month-old twin babies and their older siblings without a mother.

The slain woman has been identified as Carona Jennings, a 30-year-old mother of seven children.

iWitness News was reliably informed that the woman’s body was discovered in her yard sometime around noon by one of her older children.

The homicide victim’s blood painted her yard red on the day that the colour is used to symbolise the passion of love.

Investigators are said to have also found blood in her house, suggesting that she might have been attacked there and collapsed and died in her yard while fleeing her assailant.

Sources say that the woman is believed to have been killed sometime after a man arrived at her home, inquiring about her boyfriend.

One of the woman’s children is said to have been leaving the property around that time to visit a relative and when the child returned sometime later, the woman was found dead in the yard.

Her twin babies, who are said to have been born last December, were found inside the house while their mother was dead in the yard.

iWitness News understands that police found evidence at the scene that suggested that the woman had been dead for some time before her body was discovered.

The death brings to seven the number of homicides in St. Vincent and the Grenadines this year.

Four of those killings have occurred in the last week.

On Monday, Eyon Olando Browne aka Dog, 45, of Block 2000, was gunned down about 200 feet from his house around 6:40 a.m. as he made his way to work.

Last Saturday, a 1-year-old baby died in Rose Hall when her throat was slit, allegedly by a 22-year-old resident of the North Leeward village who allegedly claimed that the child was demon-possessed.

The suspect was apprehended and is said to be receiving medical treatment for mental health issues.

And, on Feb. 7, Kelique Rock aka Brinks, 27, of Green Hill, was gunned down by unknown assailants as he socialised at the roadside outside his home around 7:28 p.m.

Police have brought charges in just one of the homicides recorded this year. Raheem Da Silva, 21, of Redemption Sharpes is awaiting a preliminary inquiry on the indictment that charged him with murder in connection with the stabbing death of Rodolph Pollard of the same address.

Update (Feb. 15, 2024; 6:24 p.m.): This article was updated to reflect the age of the deceased, as given by the police.

  1. This is a urgent call for prayer
Mom’s. Dastake your children back to Sunday School and to church
    Jesus is the only answer

  2. They should change the name of St Vincent to killing field. What a country. United Nation should declare it to be a place of no return.

  3. There appears that “A CURSE” is placed On SVG. And who is THE CAUSE? Who is THE DISOBEDIENT JONAH?? MY PEOPLE: AT HOME AND ABROAD WE NEED TO FERVENTLY COME TOGETHER AND PRAY FOR OUR ONCE NAMED “HOME OF THE BLESSED” SVG. Now it’s “The Land of Murderers” and perhaps: “WORKERS OF INIQUITY” WHO IS GUILTY OF SUCH CURSE.

  4. Seven children by the age of 25 speaks volumes to a dysfunctional life style that surely helps explain but in no way justifies her heinous murder.

  5. There has to be a way of sponsoring a positive perspective on everything. For this chronicle, it could well be that, in context, we see here an inevitable companion of economic progress as often seen elsewhere. On the other hand, there exists an option to carry on smartly and ignore the summary altogether, thereby making no dent or impact on the positive outlook.

  6. This called for a ban to travel to SVG. Let the Government, and the law feel it, so no visitors! No money coming in! Until the lackadaisical Government, and the banana Police. ..do something to stop these Crimes. Why killed the woman,b’cause u did not find her boyfriend? U have left babies and teenagers without a mother. Shame on u all vincentian men! Good for nothing piece of shit. No woman shouldn’t date u all. All Caribbean Islands should laugh at u all. I do pray and hope my siblings don’t cross paths with u all physcho paths. I will encourage them to leave if they have intention too. This whole killing pree , is why I will not live in St.Vincent. I hope someone find her killer, and torture his sick ass, kill the bugger .. if u kill, then thou shalt be killed.
