A man who was shot outside a pharmacy in Arnos Vale was reportedly left bleeding for half an hour after being shot, raising questions about the response of the police and the alleged shooter.

One person who saw the injured man outside the business place told iWitness News that he was there for up to half an hour awaiting medical attention.

The source told iWitness News he was commuting in the area when he saw the injured man “bleeding profusely”.

The injured man was still there about a half an hour later when the commuter passed back in that same direction.

Meanwhile, police said Sunday night that a 49-year-old resident of Richland Park was shot in his left leg on Saturday outside of Roy’s Pharmacy in Arnos Vale.

Police did not name the shooting victim, but said preliminary information is that the victim and an employee of the pharmacy were involved in an altercation when he was shot.

“The victim was transported to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital for medical treatment where he is currently warded in stable condition,” police said.

Initial reports reaching iWitness News were that the man was shot twice but police did not indicate the number of gunshot injuries that the man received.

Police, however, said that officers from the Calliaqua district responded to the incident and have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

“The alleged shooter is cooperating with the investigation,” police said.

“Anyone with information who can assist with this investigation is asked to contact the Calliaqua Police Station at 1-784-458-4200, Police Emergency at 911/999, or any police station or police officer you are comfortable speaking with. Any information received will be treated confidentially,” the statement continued.

  1. Damn, it’s pretty alarming, but I’ve been hearing some troubling news lately. Apparently, there’s this unsettling trend happening in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. 😟 Word on the grapevine is that some shady character is pumping sleeping gas through open windows, knocking people out cold, and then sneaking into their homes to ransack their belongings. The police should do an investigation on what’s happening its very concerning
We’ve gotta look out for each other and stay safe in these uncertain times.
