Schools in St. Vincent and the Grenadines will close for two days as the country hosts the summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
The summit will be held on March 1 at Sandals Beaches Resort in Buccament Bay.
The Ministry of Education said today (Thursday) that schools will close on Thursday Feb. 29 and Friday March 1.
“Heads of educational institutions are asked to ensure that students are assigned work to account for the loss of instructional time,” the statement said.
Minister of Finance Camillo Gonsalves told Parliament today that 25 presidents and prime ministers from the 33-member hemispheric bloc as well as Secretary General of the United Nations, Antoni Guterres are among the delegates expected to attend the summit.
