Vincentian Kishore Shallow has been nominated unopposed to serve a second consecutive term as president of Cricket West Indies (CWI), the second successive election in which he has been elected unopposed.
His new term will officially commence on March 29, 2025, during CWI’s annual general meeting in Antigua.
Shallow will serve alongside Vice President Azim Bassarath, who was also elected unopposed.
Shallow’s nomination came from the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board and the Leeward Islands Cricket Board.
The Jamaica Cricket Association and the Windward Islands Cricket Board backed Bassarath’s nomination.
Shallow has been nominated unopposed despite a statement by Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, that he should not lead regional cricket while named as a candidate in national elections.
Shallow is the opposition New Democratic Party’s candidate for North Leeward in the next general elections, widely expected by November, ahead of the March 2026 constitutional deadline.
“Being returned unopposed for a second time is a strong endorsement of the leadership and direction we have taken at Cricket West Indies,” Shallow said.
“It speaks to the level of confidence in our vision and the progress we have made in stabilising and advancing West Indies cricket.
“Now, we must build on that progress, staying focused on the task at hand and not allowing ourselves to be distracted from our ultimate goal. We are one in purpose, working together for the betterment of West Indies cricket.”
He said he understands fully the responsibility that comes with the position.
“… I remain committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and good governance. I want to sincerely thank the Trinidad & Tobago Cricket Board and the Leeward Islands Cricket Board for their nomination, as well as all our stakeholders for their continued support. It is truly humbling to serve in this capacity, and I do not take this trust lightly.”
Shallow’s re-election follows historic governance reforms approved at a special meeting of CWI shareholders on Feb. 9.
The reforms introduced a significant change, increasing the duration of the president and vice president’s term from two years to three years. Additionally, they can serve a maximum of three terms.
As a result, Shallow and Bassarath will become the first president and vice president of CWI to serve three-year terms.
He is simply doing a fantastic job. In addition, he was successful in implementing team limits for the presidentcy and vice presidency. He is the new supernova.
Kishore Shallow doing such a good job there, I’m sure he will do a good job here too!
This is the man who has upset Ralph because he did not enter the political arena for the ULP.
