Police said Thursday they were awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine whether foul play was suspected in the death of a man whose decomposing body was found at his home in Lowmans Windward.
The man has been identified as Mechir Young, a 48-year-old labourer.
Police said that a resident of the area visited Young’s house around 9 a.m. on Wednesday and detected a strong foul odour.
The matter was reported to the police, and officers who responded discovered the body in an advanced state of decomposition.
“Due to the condition of the remains, police have not been able to determine whether foul play is suspected at this stage. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to ascertain the exact cause of death,” the police statement said.
“The public is asked to refrain from speculation and allow the investigative process to take its course,” police said.
Investigators are asking anyone with information that can assist to contact their nearest police station or telephone (784) 456-1810 or (784) 457-1211.
“All information will be treated with the strictest confidence,” police said.
“The RSVGPF extends sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Mr. Young during this difficult time.”
I wonder, how many cases does the RSVGPF solve in reality?
