The Carnival Monday street party, a unique characteristic of Vincymas, will be extended to midnight, CEO of the Carnival Development Corporation, Rodney Small announced on Tuesday.

He said at a press conference in Kingstown that the decision was made after a meeting with acting Commissioner of Police Enville Williams and his team.

“It was a very interesting meeting but I could say that for persons who are listening, that we have the full support from the commissioner and his police officers. Time changes; Carnival Monday will now end at midnight.”

Small said that the police have also extended the time for Mardi Gras by one hour, meaning that it will now end at 10 p.m.

“We got a little one hour, so we’re grateful,” Small said.

He also announced that carnival street bars will begin operating 24 hours again.

“Street bars — again, is something that I love, because I remember going to carnival with my mom and seeing street bars, so it’s something that is very dear to my heart — would now go back to round the clock,” Small said.

“So, persons, you can now experience a round-the-clock experience.”

Small also said that carnival would be extended.

“We know traditionally, carnival will end on the Carnival Tuesday, which is July 8. We’re now extending carnival to July 13. Sunday, July 13. So, you still have couple days to have some fun in this beautiful country, St. Vincent and the Grenadines.”
