I’m contacting you from London/Sandy Bay about a recent decision by the SVG government regarding the elevation of the bridge in our area and the extension of the road.
Unfortunately, this extension is set to encroach upon our already limited yard space. We have been residents here for 46 years, and this land was allocated to us after Hurricane Allen in 1980.
Does the government truly value our safety?
Having lived in this community, we understand how vehicles operate, and we’ve raised our concerns about the proposed changes. The suggestion to relocate the road to the other side, which only borders a bank, seems much safer. They could simply grade that area instead.
Despite our objections, they keep returning with the same questions. We are genuinely concerned about our safety, but it feels like our lives are not being taken seriously.
Now, they are asking about land deeds, which seems unreasonable given that this land was designated to us following Hurricane Allen.
Is this the path our country is taking? Do our safety concerns hold any weight with the government?
The simplest solution would be to grade the bank area, yet it appears that our safety is not a priority for them. While they rest easy, we are left anxious about the potential hazards to our homes.
It is crucial that they reassess this situation, as it is unacceptable to endanger lives when a safer alternative exists.
It feels as though they disregard our concerns, repeatedly approaching us to persuade us despite our insistence on the importance of safety. How can the government choose to endanger its citizens? It wouldn’t be difficult to revisit the plans and create a solution that works for everyone in the community. It’s disheartening to feel that they do not care about us.
We are not trying to be difficult; we are simply concerned for our safety.
I do hope that the general public is made aware of what is actually taking place. Whenever you are free, you can take a drive out this side to see what they plan on doing.

The Government just looking for the cheaper and easiest way out, allocating all this money for infostructure and finding ways to pocket this money.
SAFETY OF IT’S CITIZENS, if this was the case there’s no way they will force their people to inject something in their bodies that was never studied or researched, now look at the death rate throughout.
Now cutting from the other side will be safer for your family and motorist, that corner will be less steep.
The next thing is asking for your deed for a piece of land your family occupied for 46yrs, another way of flexing their power and show its citizens they holds no value.
Unless our people don’t wakeup and realize what’s going on, we’re DOOMED.
What’s funny is you still gonna vote them back.
Look, either you want a better bridge with better road or you want yard space. If they grade the area where you are suggesting to grade, the other folks will complain that their property will wash away too. The Govt cannot please everyone. And 46yrs of occupying does not entitled you to life time ownership. Govt has reclaimed lands which were occupied / owned for far more years than 46.
