Two people have died tragically on their birthdays in separate incidents in less than a week in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
A man died in a car accident, while a teen is suspected of having drowned.
Police said that on Aug. 12, around 11:45 p.m., in Richland Park, a red Suzuki Escudo SUV, registration number PK207, owned and driven by Angus Pompey, a 55-year-old contractor of Richland Park, went over an embankment onto private property.
Pompey was pronounced dead by the district medical officer.
His death came three days after Ethanael Montaque aka Junior, a 19-year-old unemployed resident of Diamonds, went missing while celebrating his birthday at Canash Beach between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Montaque had gone to the beach with friends, who later realised that he could not be found. The Coast Guard was called in and conducted a search, which was also futile.
Coast Guard officers retrieved Montaque’s body from the sea at Canash the following day.
Post mortem examinations were expected to be conducted on the bodies.
