The man who allegedly told police on July 2 that he had killed his father has been charged with murder.

The accused, Venol Delpesche, 22, of Gibson Corner, spent some time at the Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre before being charged.

He appeared before the Serious Offences Court on Monday, charged that on July 2, at Gibson Corner, he murdered Osley Venol Delpesche, a 57-year-old carpenter.

Police said that Delpesche walked into the Central Police Station around 9:45 p.m. on July 2, and told officers that he had killed his father at their home in Gibson Corner. 

Officers from the Major Crimes Unit, supported by the Crime Scene Unit, visited the scene and discovered Osley Delpesche lying motionless in his bedroom with multiple chop wounds to his head and body.

The district medical officer pronounced him dead at the scene.

Delpesche was not required to plead to the indictable charge. He was remanded into custody at His Majesty’s Prison until Sept. 25, 2025, for a status report.

Police are appealing to anyone with additional information that could assist investigators in this and other investigations to come forward.

Delplesche’s death was the second alleged patricide in St. Vincent and the Grenadines in less than a week.
