Homicide investigators in St. Vincent and the Grenadines were on Saturday morning trying to identify an adult male who was shot in Layou around 3 a.m.
iWitness News understands that detectives are working with a theory that the man was attacked at or near an entertainment event in the Central Leeward town.
He then fled the scene in an attempt to escape his assailants, but suffered at least one gunshot injury, which apparently led to his death.
The man’s body was found in a yard some distance away from where the shooting began.
One person who saw the deceased said he appeared to have been in his early 20s.
The body had what appeared to be a bullet wound to the neck.
The killing brings to 28 the number of homicides recorded in St. Vincent and the Grenadines this year.
It is the second killing in the country this week, following the death of Sharon Elizabeth Ashton, 42, of Long Wall, Kingstown.
On Thursday, police charged Winston Lewis, a 62-year-old mason of Chauncey and Redemption Sharpes, with murder in connection with Ashton’s death.
Ashton’s body was found outside her home in Long Wall on Tuesday with multiple stab wounds.
