I dully endorsed the sentiments expressed by the author in this article. It captures in a nutshell the vision of the next M.P for NL. His focus on unity is a clear testiment of the political tribalism that currently retards the process of a constituency that has so much potential. Dr. Shallow will be great MP.

  2. This writer covered so many topics that the candidate seemed to be minister of all things. His constituency has suffered because of the stone quarry that destroyed many agriculture activities that took place in the constituency. He should be looking into ways to bring back agriculture lands to the people. A talk of building sports arenas is a NO! NO! It doesn’t generate jobs for the GEN Z population. This is why these candidates should speak to the people in the constituencies to find out what they want and need tpput food on the table and money in their pockets

As someone home on vacation and a proud son of North Leeward, this piece really hit me. I see the same potential Dr. Shallow talks about but what breaks my heart is the hopelessness I feel among so many of our young people.

Every day I see young men walking around lost, some clearly struggling with mental health issues. The abuse of alcohol and drugs is real one young man told me it’s his only way to escape the reality around him. That’s not just a social issue; it’s a cry for help.

We can talk about roads, sports, and development and yes, we need all of that but we must also fight for economic freedom and purpose for our people. We need to give our youth a reason to believe again.

North Leeward is full of promise, but our people need opportunity, hope, and healing. Let’s make that our shared mission.
