Vincentians, like many others around the world, have very strong opinions of current US President Donald Trump. Given our sizable North American diaspora, one can somewhat understand why we have such polarising views on him. He is, at times, an enigma. Upon reflection of the various news headlines regarding Trump, you can’t help but wonder, “What would a Vincy Donald Trump actually look like, though?”
The US president has faced countless allegations of sexual assault over the years. Women have risked their reputations by coming forward with allegations of sexual misconduct and assault at the hands of Trump. I thought to myself, “Hmm. A leader with such allegations against him? Multiple ones at that?! So interesting!” It seemed very familiar to my Vincentian eyes.
The US president has been caught on film and audio making disparaging remarks about women. NBC in the United States released a verified tape of him telling Ryan Secrest how easy it was to just grab women by their genitalia, etc. I thought to myself, “Hmm. A leader who shows no regard for women and constantly disrespects them? So interesting!” It seemed very familiar to my Vincentian eyes.
The US president made the first and second terms of his presidency into a family business. He appointed his daughter and son-in-law as special advisors during his first term. He made his son-in-law’s father an ambassador in his second term. There are many more examples of this. There have been stories about him and his family advancing their own personal financial agendas as a result of his presidency. Some may want to say it is nepotism. But as I sat, I thought to myself, “Hmm. A leader who turned the nation’s highest office into a family business by appointing family members to various top positions within the government, so as to keep power concentrated in a very few? So interesting!” It seemed very familiar to my Vincentian eyes.
The US President’s name was mentioned in the Epstein Files. To be clear, it has not been made public in what regard his name was mentioned and I will not assume. What I know for certain is that both the US House and Senate are led by Republican politicians, of which President Trump is the leader, and they’ve voted to block the release of the files at every turn. Guess what?! I thought to myself, “Hmm. A leader using his influence to prevent the public from getting information deemed important, and in the process, protect bad men who are his friends?! So interesting!” It seemed very familiar to my Vincentian eyes.
The US President has on several occasions repeatedly blamed Democrats for failure to act to open the government, though Republicans control the House and the Senate. The Republican leader, Trump, has blamed Democrats openly for not agreeing to “open the government” as the current US government shutdown continues and thousands of workers across their nation have been furloughed, with some still at work without receiving their salaries.
Again, I thought to myself, “Hmmm. The government of the day — which is in charge — is blaming the other side for their own lack of action?! So interesting!” It seemed very familiar to my Vincentian eyes.
Earlier this year, the US President was grazed by a bullet during a campaign stop. It was quickly labelled an assassination attempt. Thankfully, he wasn’t seriously injured. It offset a media frenzy, including allegations that he was “playing up” his injury for sympathy. While there is no confirmed evidence that President Trump intentionally did this, I thought to myself, “Hmm. Would this leader and his supporters intentionally overstate the extent of an injury for political mileage? So interesting!” It seemed very familiar to my Vincentian eyes.
In his 2024 presidential bid, President Trump ran a large part of his campaign highlighting the age of then-President Joe Biden, before Biden was replaced on the ticket by then-VP Kamala Harris. He repeatedly referred to President Biden as “Sleepy Joe” to say that Biden was slow/lazy. He also repeatedly highlighted how old President Biden was, despite Trump himself being 79 years old today, 78 then.
Again, I thought to myself, “A political leader just shy of 80 years old calling someone else running for the same office old? So interesting!” It seemed very familiar to my Vincentian eyes.
President Trump called for MAGA supporters to take to the streets of Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6. It should come as no surprise that I thought, “A leader encouraging his supporters to take to the streets?” So interesting! It seemed very familiar to my Vincentian eyes”.
The US President’s supporters, particularly Steve Bannon, have been floating the idea of there being a third Trump term (which isn’t even legally possible), pushing the idea that Trump should be president again. You wouldn’t believe it! I thought to myself, “Hmm. A leader wanting to hold on to power at any cost? So interesting!” It seemed very familiar to my Vincentian eyes.
To the Vincentians who fundamentally and ideologically oppose the ideals and perceived behaviour of President Donald Trump, I ask: What do your Vincentian eyes see?”

Lol! I said the very same thing to someone yesterday
Ignorance and Propaganda at it’s Highest Level
Our Vincentians are much smarter that this writer gives them credit for. We do not succumb to them-say click-bate headlines as the writer implied.
This lady referred to is alleged to have a split personality. The NY State, a Democratic strong hold, changed the law to allow a 30 year old allegation without any substantiated proof to go to trial. Very soon the Supreme Court will over turn this travesty of injustice. ABC has already paid Trump $16,000,000 US, for defamation.
No one can defend the type of language used in the incident referred to above. However, is there anyone else who ever spoke in such or similar terms? I guess that the writer is perfect in all his ways. Congratulations!
Trump and his family are capable business people and are successful in business and also in politics. His son-in-law was instrumental the Middle East peace treaties in Trump’s first administration. In addressing Trump advancing his personal financial agenda, the writer failed to let his readers know that Trump is the first President in modern history who does not take a salary
The Biden administration was in power and had access to all these so-called Epstein files. The Biden Administration who had every thing but the kitchen sink thrown at Trump did not release the files. They frame him several times re impeachments, January 6, and rape charge. They tried to get him off the ballot, tried to destroy his family, tried to bankrupt him, and tried to prevent him from operating his business in new York. Need I say more? Yet, the writer want his readers to believe that there are something in these files that will make Trump looked bad and the Biden administration did not release it. Really?
More ignorance. According to the US System of government it needs 60 votes in the Senate to open the government. During Biden’s term the Republicans voted about 13 times to keep the government open even though the Democrats did not have 60 votes themselves to do so. Now, the 52 Republicans in the Senate voted to open the government 14 times during the shut down and at least 8 Democrats refused to vote to open the government. Yet this writer who is so ignorant about US politics but very slick in spreading propaganda have no problem feeding his readers miss information.
Was the attempt to kill the President not an assassination attempt? When a bullet grazed your ears is that “playing up” injury for sympathy? Wow, is this writer smoking some special stuff?
Is this writer blind? Biden had fallen so many times, even up stairs, it was not even funny. When leaving the podium he did not know which way to exit the stage. He attempted to shake the hand of invisible individuals. He could not complete a though on several occasions. Is this a comedic script written by this writer for production later?
Yeah, right and the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) that produced that doctored clip has to face Trump to negotiate a settlement from the billion dollar lawsuit that is on it’s way.
So Trump is now guilty for the wishes of one of his supporters. Ok, I got it!
