Barrouallie resident, Keon Dennie, 41, has been charged with murder over the chopping death of popular character, Munt-I.

Munti, who goes by the legal name Munti Thomas, died on Monday after being chopped multiple times in the Central Leeward town, bringing the homicide count in St. Vincent and the Grenadines this year to eight.

The circumstances surrounding the killing are not clear but reports suggest that Thomas might have been chopped over a conflict involving ice and EC$60.

Videos have been circulated on social media showing the mortally wounded Thomas lying on the ground with severe chop wounds about his body.
He died shortly after arriving at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital in Kingstown.

Thomas, who is said to have been originally from North Leeward, moved back to that area of the country some years ago after spending some time on the streets of Kingstown, where he is said to have sustained a drug habit.
He is said to have fled the capital after an allegation that he stole cocaine in the city.

Thomas was known for his lyrical composition, which he sang accompanied by his own percussive vocalisation.

Dennie is expected to appear before a magistrate on Wednesday for the reading of the indictable charge.

  1. What kind of journalism is that? “Thomas, who is said to have been originally from North Leeward, moved back to that area of the country some years ago after spending some time on the streets of Kingstown, where he is said to have sustained a drug habit.”
