South Rivers Methodist retained the top spot in the SVG Inter Primary Schools Developmental Cricket Competition, when they fended off a strong challenge from Owia Government School in the final, on Thursday at the Park Hill Playing Field.
Asked to bat first, Owia Government got through a difficult start to total 219 for 6 in 20 overs, with Sommer Chance scoring 14.
Ravion Derrick’s 1 for 16 from 4 overs was the best returns with the ball from an Owia Government bowler.
Owia Government were also slow at the start of their innings. They got into their strides through the middle overs, but fell nine runs short at the back end, finishing on 210 for 7 when their 20 overs ran out.

Amallie Lavia stroked 29 not out while J’Shawn Henry added 19. Allison Dalzell grabbed 4 for 31 to curtail the progress of the Owia Government’s batters.
In the third-place playoff, Georgetown Government had the better of Biabou Methodist by 105 runs. Georgetown Government tallied 249 for 5 in 20 overs. Zorano Lewis scored 31.
Biabou Methodist replied with 144 all out in 20 overs. Jaysean John was the chief destroyer, bagging 6 for 7 in 3 overs.
