St. Vincent and the Grenadines Men’s National Basketball Team suffered a difficult 100-66 defeat to Haiti on Saturday in Game 3 of the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers in Guyana.
Despite the result, rookie standout Shad Thomas once again delivered an impressive performance, leading Team SVG with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks.
Thomas continued his outstanding debut campaign, recording his second double-double of the tournament and providing a bright spot for the Vincentian side.
The team will now regroup and shift its focus to its final group-stage matchup against Barbados today (Sunday), with tip-off scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
“The players and coaching staff remain determined to finish the tournament on a positive note and will be looking to deliver a strong performance in their closing game,” the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Basketball Federation said in a press release.
Saturday’s defeat came following a 96-63 win on Friday over Cayman Islands.
Despite the final margin, the competition was closely contested during the opening half, with SVG holding a narrow 41-37 advantage at halftime.
Team SVG’s disciplined second-half effort turned a four-point halftime lead into a commanding 33-point victory, highlighting the team’s depth, defensive resilience and composure.
