The homicide count in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) this year ticked up to 24 on Tuesday with the discovery of the body of a watchman with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
The dead man has been identified as Nicholas Oliver, 51, of Arnos Vale.
Police said his body was found near the Anglican Church at Golden Vale.
Police said they were informed around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday that Oliver was found with injuries appearing to be consistent with gunshot wounds.
A medical practitioner pronounced Oliver dead at the scene.

Police said the investigation into the death is ongoing and anyone with information that may assist can call 1-784-456-1810, 1-784-457-1211, or the nearest police station.
“All information received will be treated in the strictest confidence,” the police statement said.
Oliver is the fourth person killed in SVG this month.
On July 10, Sandre Matthias, a 35-year-old vendor, was shot and killed near a minimart in his home community of Glen.
On July 2, Lida Lewis, an 84-year-old farmer, of in Peruvian Vale, was raped and then strangled in her community.
Her assailant(s) allegedly left a cellular phone stuffed into her mouth. On July 1, Gayron Jackson, 49, was shot and killed in Mt. Young, Georgetown, while on his way into the mountains to buy coconuts.
SVG recorded 40 homicides in 2025, 14 fewer than the previous year.
