Seven Vincentians have graduated from Cuban universities with degrees in medicine and nursing through scholarships provided by the Cuban government.
Five of them graduated with a Doctor of Medicine while the other two obtained degrees in nursing.
Angelique Alfred, Rayon James, Daneel Mc Phy, Macello Scott and Jayonne Tucker completed first degrees in medicine.
Ria Edwards and Shwayi Neverson obtained first degrees in nursing.
“They completed studies in key fields critical to SVG’s development under the long-standing scholarship cooperation programme between the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the Government of the Republic of Cuba,” the Embassy of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in Cuba said in a press release.
“Their training in Cuba represents a direct investment in the health, education, and development of our people. We thank the Government and people of Cuba for their unwavering solidarity,” the release said.
“The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines congratulates the graduates and their families, and looks forward to their contribution to national development.”
So, if your diploma isn’t from a Western country, it’s considered invalid? We are truly brainwashed if we believe the American blockade and forced isolation of Cuba are legitimate. We are increasingly being conditioned to believe that might makes right. I just happen to hold a qualification that is backed by the University of Manchester.
