A teenager wanted by police in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) has been charged with theft in Tortola, British Virgin Islands.

Kareem Nathaniel Abbott, 18, is now on remand in the British territory after he was caught with a stolen cellular phone.

He is also in custody for entering the territory without leave from immigration and giving police false information.

Abbott is wanted in SVG for a series of burglaries. He appeared before a magistrate in Tortola and was remanded after he pleaded guilty to all charges.

He said he went to Tortola aboard a yacht that landed near Village Cay on Christmas Day.

He also said that the yacht has since left the Territory.

Police in Tortola made the necessary inquiries and found that Abbott is wanted by the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force in connection with a series of burglaries.

Authorities will be seeking his deportation to SVG.
