KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent: – Police here were on Saturday morning investigating the death of a man and his girlfriend in what is suspected to be a murder-suicide.

It is believed that omnibus operator and former cop Dave Charles killed his girlfriend and set their house on fire before killing himself Saturday morning.

Their charred bodies were found on the ground floor of their two-storey home in Cane Grove, a community about eight miles from here.

One of the couple’s neighbours told I Witness-News that she was talking on her cellular phone about 2:15 Saturday morning when she saw smoke and fire rising from the house.

The teenage girl notified her mother who alerted neighbours who then called the fire department.

Joseph said that Charles seemed his regular self up to 5 p.m. Friday when Joseph got off from work.

The house were Charles and his girlfriend lived.
Police stand outside the house were Charles and his girlfriend were found dead.

A large crowd gathered outside the couples’ residence as heavily armed officers conducted their investigation and relatives of the deceased wept openly.
