KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent – The man wanted by police in connection with the stabbing attack of his girlfriend and another woman on Saturday is now in police custody.

Well-placed sources tell I-Witness News that the father of Derrick Shawn John, 38, of Gomea turned him in to police Wednesday morning.

John is suspected of inflicting multiple stab wounds on Keneisha Belgraves of Brighton, his girlfriend of 14 years and mother of his two children, and Claudine Simmons of Green Hill.

Reports say that the stabbing took place in the presence of the two children, who, along with John and Simmons, were in a vehicle driven by Belgraves.

Belgraves who was discharged from hospital Monday, is said to have received 18 stab wounds during the attack, allegedly by the man with whom she has been living for four years.

While the sources told I-Witness News that John was in fact in police custody, they were not in a position to say what crimes, if any, he had been charged with.
