KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent — A 16-year-old student of the St. Vincent Grammar School, the nation’s leading all-male high school, has died in a suspected suicide, well-placed sources tell I-Witness News.

Belvedere resident Romario D. Sayers was found dead around 8 p.m. Wednesday at Arnos Vale, where he lived with a member of his extended family.

His death came two days after he wrote on Facebook “Live every thought you’ve dreamed of”, his last post on the social networking website, where persons have been expressing their surprise at his death and leaving condolences.

“We lost a friend … We lost an athlete … we lost a brother,” one poster said, while another asked — in dialect — “souljah wey d hell yuu do dah fah?” — a strongly disapproving, “Why the hell did you do this?”

Sayers is the nation’s second student to commit suicide in just over two years.
