Bolivia, a member of ALBA and friend of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, is under serious threat from its own police force.
Bolivia is under threat of a coup. More than 300 Bolivian police officers are striking across the country and are demanding higher pay, reinstatement of the country’s sacked police chief and abolishing a law prohibiting them from freely expressing their views publicly.
The revolt started on Thursday when striking police officials, dressed in civilian clothes and concealing their faces, stormed the offices of the country’s riot police and eight other police stations. Protestors smashed windows, destroyed furniture and set flags alight. Police on duty offered no resistance.
The police protestors have since moved to more than 25 police stations and command centres across the country.
Bolivia’s private banking association has opted to close all banks because they lacked police or military protection.
The country is in a state of panic many Bolivian citizens believing a coup is in progress.

The ALBA military school is based in Bolivia, the school has primarily been funded by Iran. Training of police officers and military of ALBA members takes place here and some of the trainers are Iranian Revolutionary Guard. The courses include revolutionary instruction, guerrilla warfare, intense interrogation procedure [information from torture] and socialist [communist] political indoctrination.
