KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent, Feb. 20, IWN – Opposition senator, Vynnette Frederick was arrested on Friday and had three charges brought against her, police say.
Frederick, an attorney, was charged “with two counts of falsely swearing before Miss Fay James, a person authorised to administer the oath,” police said in a release.
The offenses are alleged to have taken place at Kingstown on Jan. 10, 2011 and May 12, 2012.
A police source told I-Witness News that the charges are in addition to the perjury charges brought against her last year.
On Sept. 12, 2012, Frederick, a senator for the New Democratic Party, was arrested and charged with three counts of perjury and was granted $10,000 bail.
The charges stemmed from a case she filed against Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, following the 2010 general elections.
She said in 2012 that the perjury charges were politics of distraction.
