Police have arrested a man and laid three charges against him in relation to the Feb. 6 burglary of house in Villa and the assualt of a female resident there.

Police said Tuesday that they arrested Carlos Peniston, a 30-year-old labourer of McKies Hill last Friday.

Peniston was charged with entering the dwelling house of Carol Richards, a 46-year-old school teacher of Villa, as a trespasser and with stealing a quantity of household items, valued US$1,293 and EC$810 in cash.

He was also charged with unlawfully and maliciously causing grievous bodily harm to Richards and with intent to commit the offence of murder on Richards did act which is more than merely preparatory to the commission of the offence.

Richard, is wife of Cecil Richards, pastor of the Kingstown Baptist Church.

She was hospitalised after the incident.
