Police have launched a murder investigation into the death of New Montrose man who was gunned down Thursday night sometime before 9 p.m.
The dead man has been identified as Andre “Sweat” Chewitt, a 39-year-old businessman of the West Kingstown community.
Police say he sustained gunshot wounds about his body.
Reports are that Chewitt was at a shop when someone summoned him outside.
When he stepped outside gun shot rang out, several of which are said to have struck him, killing him on the spot.
