A motorcyclist died Friday morning in Friendship Bay, Bequia when he crashed into a coconut tree on his way to work.
The motorcyclist, Paul Liverpool, said to be in his 30s, was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and is believed to have broken his neck on impact.
Liverpool, a heavy equipment operator, is originally from Union Island but lived in Paget Farm, Bequia with his wife, who is from the northern Grenadines island.
A source close to the family said that Liverpool’s widow and mother-in-law were both treated in hospital for stress-related conditions after the incident.
The source said the incident is especially distressing for the family since Liverpool was scheduled to sell the motorcycle later on Friday.
His death brings the road fatality count this year to 19, according to police statistics.
