The Miss SVG pageant this year will be held one week later than initially advertised.

“I must draw to your attention that we are aware of one necessary change in the calendar, as presented on the view cards. You will see that the Miss SVG show, slated for May 28th, there has been a change. After much discussion, we could not make the necessary adjustment before printing time and the decision is, the show will now be held on June 4th,” chair of the Carnival Development Corporation, Dennis Ambrose told a press conference on Tuesday.

He said the CDC believes that the new date is a better one and would allow for more persons to attend the show.

“It gives the local patrons an enhanced opportunity to participate by bringing the show more in line with the salary schedule, and, therefore, makes for a greater public involvement,” Ambrose said.

Tuesday’s press briefing was called to launch the poster and view cards to be used to promote Vincy Mas 2016.

Ambrose noted that the programme of activities this year include events organised by private promoters that have been running for five or more consecutive years.

“This is because we remain committed to marketing Vincy Mas as a full carnival experience and we would, therefore, continue to embrace the private promoters who bring an event which contributes to the spirit of our national festival.”

“It’s a very exciting poster, full of vibrancy… and this poster certainly brings out a vibrancy for Vincy Mas,” Ambrose said.

The view cards were designed by Shorn Young.

Ambrose said that the demand for these cards is generally such that a second batch has to be ordered.

He also announced that Vincy Mas 2016 will be launched on May 7 in Kingstown.

He said that the CDC is hoping that the Argyle International Airport will be open to receive returning national and visitors arriving for Vincy Mas.

“Many persons are in great anticipation of this, and I am sure that we will all see the benefits of this outcome,” Ambrose further said of the airport.
