Black Sands swim squad triumphed again during a three-day fiercely competitive international swim meet held at the Shrewsbury Aquatic Centre held Aug. 26 to 28.
The competition featured swimmers from clubs in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, as well as from Grenada, Trinidad, Barbados and St. Lucia.
The swimmers competed in their various age group bracket with Black Sand Swim Squad achieving best overall swim club as well as winning best male and female team.
During an intensely fought competition, the Black Sand Swim Squad continued to outperform their rivals, highlighted by individual outperformances by Paige Cadogan, winning Best Overall Girl 11-12; Shne Joachim, winning Best Overall Girl 15 years and over; Shane Cadogan, winning Best Overall Boy 13-14 years; and Nikolas Sylvester, winning Best Overall Boy 15 years and over.
Having just recently returned from the Olympic Games in Rio, both Nikolas and Shne performed at their best during their individual races, producing wins, personal bests as well as breaking national records, showcasing their international class and competitiveness.
Thirty-five Black Sands swimmers took part in the competition and all swimmers made personal best times.
Coach Kyle Dougan expressed his pride of all Black Sands swimmers, highlighting the dedication and hard work of his swimmers, enabling them to achieve such results, for themselves, as well as the club.
He also expressed his congratulations to Blue Marlins, Bequia United and Swim Stars for their success and achievements.
He said the quality and competitiveness of these clubs allow all the swimmers to continue to improve and strive for success.
