TROPICAL DEPRESSION

The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) late Saturday that it continues to monitor — through the Meteorological Office — a tropical disturbance in the Atlantic.

The Meteorological Office says: “This disturbance is expected to move quickly westward (20 to 25 mph) across the tropical Atlantic in the direction of the eastern Caribbean states by Tuesday evening into Wednesday.

“Environmental conditions are expected to become more conducive for development. Models suggest the disturbance can approach our area as a tropical depression or tropical storm.

“Local advisories may become necessary by late Sunday, as the system is expected in our area by Tuesday evening into Wednesday.

“The local Meteorological Office will continue monitoring this possible development and issue details of expected wind speeds and rainfall amounts”.

NEMO is advising all residents to be on the alert and to continue to make preparations as this disturbance approaches land.
