Marketer and former journalist Junior Jarvis was on Thursday charged with murder in connection with the Valentine’s Day shooting death of banker Randy Lawrence.
Jarvis, 44, was also charged with one count of assault causing actual bodily harm and one count of abduction, bringing to six the number of charges against him.
He will appear at the Serious Offences Court on Friday, where the charges will be read to him.
Lawrence, 39, died in hospital on Feb. 14, after being shot multiple times about the body at Arnos Vale that same day.
Police said on Wednesday that a post mortem concluded that he died of blood loss and multiple gunshot injuries.
Jarvis, a former senior reporter at Searchlight newspaper, is already facing three charges.
He is charged that on Feb. 14, 2017, at Arnos Vale, “with intent to commit the offence of murder on Josette Smith of Arnos Vale, [he] did an act which is more than merely preparatory to the commission of the offence contrary to Section 315(1) of the Criminal Code”.
He is further charged that on the said date and place, he “entered the dwelling house of Josette Smith of Arnos Vale as a trespasser and at the time had a weapon of offence, to wit, a gun, contrary to Section 218 of the Criminal Code”.
Jarvis is also charged that he “did use one black 9mm Beretta pistol … to aid in the commission of an offence, contrary to Section 91 of the Firearms Act”.
He was remanded in custody pending a bail review.
However, with the murder charge against him, bail will no longer be open to Jarvis.
