Forecasters said Saturday afternoon that they were closely monitoring a vigorous tropical wave/disturbance expected to approach St. Vincent and the Grenadines late Tuesday into Wednesday.

“Conditions appear favourable for a tropical depression to form early next week,” the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services said in their midday bulletin.

Current projections suggest a track taking the system as a strong tropical wave or weak cyclone through the northern Windward Islands and Leeward Islands with winds speeds near34-40 knots (62-74 km/h/ 39-46 mph) by next Wednesday, Aug. 9.

All in St. Vincent and the Grenadines should keep up-to-date on this system, forecasters said.

They further said that by Saturday night into Sunday morning, increase in cloudiness is expected with some showers and possible isolated thunderstorms by early Sunday morning.
