An impressive all-round performance by the precocious O’jay Mathews saw North Leeward to a comprehensive 117 run win over Marriaqua on the third day of action in the SVGCA Zonal U15 championship at the Buccament Playing Field on Wednesday.

North Leeward U15, who won the toss and batted, reached 161in 33.5 overs with Mathews getting 32 at the top of the innings with 1 four and 2 sixes. Conroy Small 23 and Gideon Richards 19 both supported.

Shammur Peters led the Marriaqua bowling with 4/16 with Enrique Grant 2/ 11 and Omarion Ottley 2/17 giving assistance.

Marriaqua, having to score in excess of 4 runs an over, were on the ropes from early with the loss of important wickets.

However, it got worse with the introduction of Mathews as the fifth bowler when he grabbed 5/7 from six overs with two maidens as Marriaqua lost their last 5 wickets for 8 runs. Cloudius Robertson, who picked the first 3 wickets, ended with 3/11 and Shaeem Samuel 2/7.
