Students injured as van crashes in Diamond

The scene of the accident.

A number of students were rushed to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital in Kingstown Saturday afternoon after a minivan ran off the road in Diamond.

The van uprooted a utility pole before coming to a stop in a field next to the road.

The van was transporting young persons, mostly students, to the “Unsolved Mysteries Road Trip” in South Rivers.

One of the organiser of the event told iWitness News that he had heard about the accident but had not yet visited the scene.

The privately-organised event was marketed primarily towards students of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College.

Saturday’s event was billed as the “Miami Lifestyle Edition” and saw patrons being asked to pay EC$30 to participate.

Electricity in Diamond was knocked out, as a result of the accident.

The condition of those taken to hospital was unknown at the time of this article.
