The Taiwan Embassy has announced the schedule of public information presentations for the 2018 Taiwan Scholarship Programmes.

The sessions will take place at Frenches House next Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 4: p.m., with another to follow at Lecture Hall 2 of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College Villa Campus on Feb. 6 at 4 p.m.

These will be the only presentations this year.

Vincentians who are interested in applying for the Taiwan scholarships, namely MOFA Taiwan Scholarship and TaiwanICDF Scholarship, are invited to attend these presentations.

The embassy will introduce the scholarship programmes, including their respective qualifications, requirements and application procedures.

Members of the SVG Taiwan Scholar Alumni Association will be present to share their experiences of studying and living in Taiwan.

Project Managers from the Taiwan Technical Mission in SVG will brief on degree programmes in the area of agriculture and ICT in Taiwan.

The Taiwan Scholarship Programmes were launched in 2004 to encourage outstanding Vincentians to pursue higher education in Taiwan. It aims to enhance cultural and people to people exchanges between the Republic of China (Taiwan) and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

More than 143 Vincentians have been awarded the scholarships since their inception.

Last year, there were 17 scholarship awardees.

The deadline for application is March 16 for TaiwanICDF Scholarship and March 31 for MOFA Taiwan Scholarship.

  1. I want to know why we are still wasting time with Taiwan when we can get much more out of a relationship with China (soon to be the world’s biggest economy). The Government needs to get its priorities straight. The 20th century is long gone and this nonsense 2-China policy is but a vestige of a long gone era.
