Jetonnia Stephens died of cardiac arrest, an autopsy has concluded.

Police say they are treating as a homicide, pending autopsy results, the death of a woman whose body was found at her home around 6 a.m. on Thursday.

Jetonnia Stephens, age given as 32, is believed to have died overnight at the Kearton, Barrouallie home she shared with her husband, Paul Stephens, and their 4-month old daughter.

Initial reports were that the woman’s throat had been slit.

However, a senior detective told iWitness News Thursday afternoon that investigators dispatched to the scene had found no evidence of this.

The widower, a 42-year-old businessman, originally from Chateaubelair, is said to have called the police after finding his wife dead around 6 a.m.

  1. I never get why the police treats as a homicide or suicide before investigations are completed or an autopsy done in circumstances where initial investigations are inconclusive.

Just say that there was an incident and investigations are underway.

How will this look if it was a natural cause of death?
