Police have launched an investigation into the death of a student who was found hanging by the neck on Saturday.
The student, a female, who is said to be 15 years old, is said to have died in hospital after being rushed there.
Police in Colonaire, which covers the South Rivers district, have declined to comment on the development.
They directed iWitness News to Commissioner of Police Colin John.
John, however, did not answer calls on Saturday morning.
The death of the student comes just under two weeks after that of a Mesopotamia man, who was found dead in similar circumstances.
On June 5, the mother of the 20-year-old resident of Glenside, Mesopotamia, found his body hanging at their home about 7:15 a.m., police said.
The mother summoned the police and the district physician pronounced the man dead at the scene.
In cases like this, the primary causes are either incest, sexual dystopia, or bullying.

Factors that increase the risk of suicide among teens include:
a psychological disorder, especially depression, bipolar disorder, and alcohol and drug use (in fact, about 95% of people who die by suicide have a psychological disorder at the time of death)\
feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness that often accompany depression
emotional, physical, or sexual abuse
lack of a support network, poor relationships with parents or peers, and feelings of social isolation
dealing with bisexuality or homosexuality in an unsupportive family or community or hostile school environment
In SVG, given the high level of sexual abuse, I rank this higher than other factors.
The research that may be present does not mean that it has any bearing on this case. Anyone can google causes of suicide but in my part of the world, we deal with facts not opinions.

I dont disagree that depression is the direct and immediate cause but depression also has a lot of causes drug addiction, sexual abuse, bullying, etc. which were the issues I was focusing on even though I recognize that many people who commit suicide are chronically depressed about a whole lot of issues that other people successful cope with on a daily basis.
Ben even though your research in this area may be correct, I believe what most ppl here are criticizing you on is that your comment came across insensitive to the victim and their family especially if you’re not in direct knowledge of THIS specific case.
