Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves has urged Latin American and Caribbean countries to accelerate the regional integration process amidst the region’s evolving geo-political space.
Gonsalves reiterated this call while addressing foreign ministers and representatives of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of America (ALBA) in Managua, Nicaragua on Thursday.
ALBA Representatives met in Managua for the 17th Meeting of the Political Council of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of America — Treaty of Trade of the Peoples (ALBA-TCP) to discuss geopolitical issues among the nine-member grouping.
The Council reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening solidarity among member countries, while urging governments within the region to consolidate advances in the progress towards integration.
Gonsalves said the region must work in a co-ordinated manner to address several issues relating to trade, the movement of people and climate change.
He told delegates that ALBA must focus on specific programmatic elements that are people-centred in order to advance the regional integration process.
“I want to reaffirm the point that ALBA is more relevant [now] than ever and we have to strengthen the people-to-people connection within Latin America and the Caribbean by linking and uniting our peoples,” Gonsalves said.
In his support for a stronger push towards deepening the integration process, Gonsalves noted that St. Vincent and the Grenadines has no visa requirements for ALBA member countries and urged other countries to examine visa restrictions within the regional bloc.

Among the representatives of the ALBA-TCP were the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Jorge Arriaza, his Bolivian counterpart, Diego Pary Rodríguez, Foreign Minister of El Salvador Carlos Castaneda, Cuba’s Deputy Foreign Minister Abelardo Moreno as well as delegates from, Dominica, St. Kitts, Antigua and Barbuda.
The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of America (ALBA) was created on Dec. 14, 2004 in Havana through a constitutive treaty signed between Cuba and Venezuela, which was later joined by Antigua and Barbuda, Bolivia, Dominica, Ecuador, Nicaragua, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, and St. Kitts and Nevis.
The anti-American, anti-capitalist ALBA has been on the radar of the Americans and Europeans since day one. As the alliance slowly disintegrates with the implosion of Venezuela and Nicaragua, it will also sink members like SVG which will be left with no more oil from Venezuela, a demand by a new Venezuelan government to quickly pay its oil debts, and no oil from America and other countries who will simply shrug their shoulders while saying, “Well, you made your bed; now sleep in it.”
All, we could reply is, “Well, at least sell us few candles so we can see in the dark.”

In my personal opinion Ralph Gonsalves is out of order. Here he is again in his red communist shirt trying his hardest to sell out the last remaining stitches of Vincentian sovereignty to a bunch of Marxist-Leninist scum bags.
He took us into ALBA without the approval of the Vincentian people. He has tried his hardest to make us into the communist state that we are now witnessing in Venezuela.
The sooner we get rid of this man and all his dynasty members and the dynasty collaborators the better off Saint Vincent and the Grenadines will be.
He and his family have taken all the prime ministries in our government. Then just look at the life style flitting around the world staying in the very best places and eating the very best food. Dressing in the very best clothes and riding in the very best cars.
It really is time for the US to put sanctions on this man and all his dynasty members and collaborators.
Remember comrade that all Vincentians are equal, only that some Vincentians are “more equal” than others, just as all Venezuelans are equal.

The UN has said that “the Number of migrants, refugees from Venezuela has now reached 3 million and that their exodus, driven by violence, hyperinflation and shortages of food amounts to around one in 12 of the population.” Now these “bad individuals” that are leaving the country do not like equality. For those of you who don’t understand the word integration in the context it is used here by Ralph Gonsalves, here is the meaning:- the action or process of integrating = “economic and political integration, means to unite and bring the member countries together as one”
