St. Vincent and the Grenadines, on Monday, confirmed its 10th COVID-19 death.
Dead is a 25-year-old male resident of Owia who tested positive for COVID-19 last Friday, March 19, after presenting to the Modern Medical and Diagnostic Centre, Accident and Emergency department with shortness of breath and decreased appetite.
The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) said that the man was transferred to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital and died Monday morning at 5:45 a.m. from COVID pneumonia.
The man died on a day when the country recorded no new positive cases from 129 samples collected on Sunday.
No new recoveries were reported, leaving the number of total recoveries at 1,523.
The country has recorded 1,700 cases of COVID-19 since March 2020 and 167 of those cases remain active.
“The public is urged to consistently use masks, sanitize, physically distance and get vaccinated to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines,” NEMO said.
