Police have launched a homicide investigation into the death of Randolph Carlos Joseph, 66, of Cedars, whose body was found in his garden last Thursday, Jan. 19, with injuries to the head.
There had been speculation that he was injured by a mentally ill resident of the community.
Police said, on Wednesday, that a post mortem examination concluded that the farmer died as a result of blunt force trauma.
Investigators are asking people with information that can assist with the investigation to telephone 1-784-457-1211 ext 4816; 1784-456-1810, 1784-458-4200 or any police station in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Alternatively, people with information can speak with any police officer with whom they are comfortable.
“All information received would be treated confidentially. Investigations into the matter are ongoing,” police said.
Police have deemed Joseph’s death the third homicide for the year 2023, omitting from the count the two people they shot and killed this year.
Update: An earlier version of this story gave the surname of the deceased as “James”, as per the police statement. it is, in fact, Joseph.
