Jomo “Top Dog” Brudy, of Edinboro, who was one of two men shot in Pole Yard, Arnos Vale, on Monday night, died in hospital on Tuesday morning, well-placed sources have told iWitness News.

Brudy’s death brings to 11 the number of homicides in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) this year, including two police killings.

Brudy’s death also ended a five-week period in which were no killing in SVG, and represents, the first gun-related death since mid-February.

2023 opened as a bloody year in SVG, following on 2022, in which the country recorded a record 42 homicides.

Two men, one of whom was being shot for the fourth time, are in hospital after being shot in Pole Yard, Arnos Vale Monday night.

Jomo “Top Dog” Brudy, of Edinboro and John Dallaway of Georgetown/Pole Yard, were shot about their bodies about 7:30 p.m.

A mask assailant opened fired on the men as they were standing at Brudy’s shop in Pole Yard.

iWitness News was reliably informed that Brudy received gunshot injuries to his upper body, including to the shoulder, neck, chest and abdomen and was listed as in critical condition at Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

Dallaway received shots in his left upper thigh.

Brudy was shot for a second time in just over a year, having survived gunshots in Pole Yard on March 3, 2022.

In that incident, Owen “Kenny” Stoddard, 47, was killed while Randolph “Bruce Lee” Samuel also survived his injuries.

On Dec. 3, 2008, Brudy was shot and injured while Shereen Clouden was killed when they were both shot while walking in Ottley Hall.

Then, on May 8, 2009, Brudy survived a gunshot to the scrotum outside his Edinboro home one day after testifying in the in the preliminary inquiry into Clouden’s murder.

In November 2012, the High Court sentenced Atiba Bess, 20, of Ottley Hall, to 20 years in prison for manslaughter in connection with Clouden’s death.

In May 2022, after eight months in custody, Rudy was cleared of murder in connection with the death of Rillan Hill resident Shawn Gordon, who was found in Edinboro on Dec. 19, 2010 with a gunshot injury to the head.

  1. Senseless killings we really have gun culture and is largely restricted to one segment of society that is quite often associated with a certain segment of society having certain common characteristics.
