A Cuban doctor is in the Intensive Care Unit at Milton Cato Memorial Hospital after being attacked in Kingstown Friday night.

The doctor, who is in his early 50s and attached to the Levi Latham Health Centre, was left with his intestines exposed when he was attacked on his way to his Mc Kies Hill apartment.

iWitness News was reliably informed that prison guards found the doctor outside His Majesty’s Prison bleeding profusely and his intestines exposed.

Police responded and the physician told them that he was on his way home after the calypso semi-finals at Victoria Park when someone attacked him.

iWitness News understands that the doctor suffered a large wound to his abdomen and lost a considerable amount of blood, resulting in being placed in intensive care.

There are a number of Cuban healthcare professionals performing various roles in the public and private healthcare sector in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The attack on the physician may cause Vincentians to remember a case in September 2019 where Cuban surgeon Horlirio Ferrer-Robaina saved the life of Byera resident Michael “Mike” Woods, who was disembowelled in a cutlass attack.

So sorry to hear such embarrassing sad news. Any one attacking a doctor/person in such manner has to be mentally ill. I hope this is not a prank to belittle SVG or defame the ruling party. It is a shame how some people can use sabotage to prove a point or are we really having an issue with crime??
I pray that the doctor is comfortable and will have overcome this terrible ordeal.

  2. Louis Providence says:

WHY? The world would be a better place without these people, bring back prison terms with “HARD LABOUR”, a crime, such as this one should merit five years hard labour, followed by five years regular imprisonment.

  3. I won’t be coming to SVG. It is not a safe place to be for anyone. Stay away from this violent and deadly place.

  4. Heather Pope says:

What’s wrong with these people….they think someone send them go smoke shit and can’t get cash to keep up with there bad habits…so darm sad

Sorry to hear about the doctor hope he get good attention wicked people I don’t know what this place is coming to I hope they catch the person who do that

  6. Put the police on beat. SVG is barren of police officers out on beat duty.
What a shame! Policing has gone to the dogs. I am terribly sorry the doctor encountered this devious ordeal.
    I pray speedy recovery.

  7. Crime may be hard to stop because most of the times you don’t see it coming. But it can be curbed or minimised. You see the “Sentencing Guidelines”, that’s what’s messed up. When one is convicted for a violent crime, a well deserved harsh punishment should be applied. The guidelines would come to the rescue of the convict and derail our expectations most of the times. It’s real sad…….
