Police have launched an investigation into the death of a farmer whose body was found with multiple gunshot wounds in Lauders on Thursday.
The dead farmer has been identified as Lennox James, 60, of Lauders.
James’ death has brought to 43 the number of homicides in the country this year, surpassing the record of 42 set last year.
“James’ body was discovered with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds to his back and left hand,” police said in a press release on Friday.
“The scene was processed by the Crime Scene Unit of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force,” police said, adding that a postmortem examination is expected to be carried out on the body to ascertain the exact cause of death.
“Anyone with information that can assist with this investigation is encouraged to call 999/911 or, the officer in charge of South-Central Division at telephone number 1-784-458-4200 or, any police station or police officer you are comfortable speaking with,” the press release said.
“All information received would be treated confidentially. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.”
