Overland Ballers retained their championship title when the second edition of the Shevern John North Windward Netball Tournament took place on the weekend.
On Saturday, in an exciting encounter at the Owia Hardcourt, Overland Ballers defeated Ball Busters of Owia 20–18to retain the title in the senior division of the tournament.
In the junior category, Young Warriors of Sandy Bay knocked out Simple Betters of Owia, 24–17.
The finals of the tournament were played at the Fancy Hardcourt on Sunday.
In a riveting encounter against Young Warriors of Sandy Bay, Overland Ballers demonstrated tack, precision and prowess, winning the game 31-19, taking the Senior Champions title.
Vying for the junior championship, Owia Police Youth Club dominated Fancy High Flyers in every quarter, winning 22-5.
In the Robin Round category, where teams were awarded points for their winnings, Overland Ballers placed first followed by Simple Betters, with Georgetown Combined in third position.
At the end of the tournament, teams and individuals were recognised during a presentation and award ceremony.
The Owia Police Youth Club were adjudged the most disciplined team of the tournament.
Opposition Leader Godwin Friday and other opposition members of Parliament attended the finals of the competition.

There needs to be more of these activities for our young men in this country. All is not lost but there needs to be more employment and ways to handle conflict resolution. The last time I check, this country does not have a gun factory so one of the problems is to have more patrol on the sea. There is way to many broken families. Politicians don’t care until it hits close to their home. You travel up and down the country and you can see how much young people just sitting idle by on the corner begging.
