A school teacher was given the option to immediately vacate the premises he shares with his wife or let the court provide alternate housing — in prison — until his matter was disposed of.
Alwin Woods, 42, told Magistrate Bertie Pompey at Colonarie Magistrate’s Court, sitting at Georgetown, on Thursday, that he would find suitable accommodation.
Woods appeared before the magistrate charged that on Jan. 10, at O’Brien’s Valley, he assaulted Sheril-Ann Durrant-Woods of the same address occasioning actual bodily harm.
He was also charged that on Jan. 10, at O’Briens Valley, he willfully disobeyed court order FC 108/22 made by the President of the Family Court, Colleen McDonald on Nov. 23, 2022.
Woods pleaded not guilty to both charges.
The magistrate granted bail in the sum of EC$2,000, with one surety.
He also ordered that the police accompany the defendant to vacate the premise he shared with his wife.
The magistrate adjourned the matters to Jan. 25.
