Police have charged an 18-year-old man with murder in connection with the Valentine’s Day stabbing death of a 30-year-old woman in Campden Park.

Detective brought the indictable charge against Kayode Richardson, also of Campden Park, this afternoon (Friday).

He is expected to appear before a magistrate on Monday to hear the date for a preliminary inquiry.

Among Jennings’ seven children left to mourn her loss are twin babies born last December.

Her body was discovered in her yard sometime around noon by one of her older children.

The homicide victim’s blood painted her yard red on the day that the colour is used to symbolise the passion of love.

Investigators are said to have also found blood in her house, suggesting that she might have been attacked there and collapsed and died in her yard while fleeing her assailant.

Sources say that the woman is believed to have been killed sometime after a man arrived at her home, inquiring about her boyfriend.

One of the woman’s children is said to have been leaving the property around that time to visit a relative and when the child returned sometime later, the woman was found dead in the yard.

Her twin babies, who are said to have been born last December, were found inside the house while their mother was dead in the yard.

iWitness News understands that police found evidence at the scene that suggested that the woman had been dead for some time before her body was discovered.

The death brings to seven the number of homicides in St. Vincent and the Grenadines this year.

Four of those killings have occurred in the last week.

On Monday, Eyon Olando Browne aka Dog, 45, of Block 2000, was gunned down about 200 feet from his house around 6:40 a.m. as he made his way to work.

Last Saturday, a 1-year-old baby died in Rose Hall when her throat was slit, allegedly by a 22-year-old resident of the North Leeward village who allegedly claimed that the child was demon-possessed.

The suspect was apprehended and is said to be receiving medical treatment for mental health issues.

And, on Feb. 7, Kelique Rock aka Brinks, 27, of Green Hill, was gunned down by unknown assailants as he socialised at the roadside outside his home around 7:28 p.m.

Police have brought charges in just one of the homicides recorded this year. Raheem Da Silva, 21, of Redemption Sharpes is awaiting a preliminary inquiry on the indictment that charged him with murder in connection with the stabbing death of Rodolph Pollard of the same address.

  1. The death penalty needs to be reintroduced. There are no excuses for the action of these people. They believe the will not be killed and may soon get out of prison to do the same thing again.

People don’t show sympathy for the victims or their family, they only concentrate on the criminal by asking for forgiveness. Why?

The increase in crime appears to be happening because criminals are not getting the full penalty for their crimes, so folks seek justice by going after the culprits and taking them out.

  2. Gruesome murder , there is something in the mortar besides the pestle. The accused requested the where abouts of the victim’s boyfriend. Was this in revenge for some bad blood between the two? The other scenario was whether the victim and the accused were in a love triangle or have had an intimate relationship. Whether the assumptions are accurate or not there is still no justification for taking her life.
